Eastern Music Festival The nationally recognized Eastern Music Festival produces more than 100 events each Summer – everything from Grammy-winning classical soloists with symphony orchestra (three resident orchestras to choose from) – to one of America’s most innovative and eclectic schedules of alternative programming, as part of EMFfringe. Music Director and principal conductor Gerard Schwarz heads a distinguished list of participating artists.
The Greensboro Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau site is filled with local arts, entertainment, sports and recreational events and activities.
Unusual Road Trips
Are you heading to Charlotte anytime soon? If so, check out the Carolina Raptor Center! Originally started through UNC-Charlotte and now a non-profit organization. They rescue and house birds of prey - hawks, kites, kestrels, eagles, etc. The center offers a behind-the-scenes tour that will take you through the rehabilitation center and education area. Call to make a reservation for a behind-the-scenes tour. Another useful link.

Triad Stage is a professional theater company located in downtown Greensboro.
Tarheel Tales: N.C. Theatre for Young People at UNCG. 5 folk stories that have been told and retold in the Mountains of North Carolina, TARHEEL TALES brings audience participation fun for children of all ages! Call 336-334-4392 for Summer Repertory Theatre tickets.

Museums
Greensboro Children's Museum. The GCM has been ranked in the top 50 children's museum in the U.S.
North Carolina Transportation Museum: This is a fun outing for children and adults. There are plenty of restored railroad cars to tour, a train ride with a little excitement, and some antique cars. In October they also have "Thomas the Tank Engine Days". The children will want to return! Check it out. Another interesting link to the museum.
Natural Science Center: Check out their wonderful summer camps for kids. Camps fill up quickly!
Green Hill Center for the Arts: Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art is a non-profit, visual arts center presenting exhibitions and educational programs focusing primarily on contemporary North Carolina art. With Over 7,000 feet of exhibiting gallery space, Green Hill presents ongoing exhibitions, along with educational opportunities for children and adults, and outreach programs. Green Hill hosts symposia, panel discussions, lectures and tours, and has served as a community and statewide resource for over 30 years.
Reed Gold Mine: A NC Historic Site because Reeds Gold Mine is the first documented gold site in the United States!! Gold mining was once the largest employer - second to farming - in North Carolina!

The Florida Marlins keep their Single-A minor league team in Greensboro. The Grasshoppers are in their new stadium. Check them out.
